Team in Training - Round 1

I was looking forward to the Team in Training information session that I signed up for. I went to 3rd Avenue between 79th and 80th street - just like they said in the email. I walk the block, look to my left, look to my right, there is no Tri and Run For Your Life store in sight - not to mention the pouring rain. I then Google the actual address and it shows up as a Brooklyn address - ahhhhhhhh. The Team in Training information session was to be in Brooklyn on 3rd Avenue between 79th and 80th street. I kick myself - what an idiot I am ! So I guess Round 2 will have to be in the new year. I am off to India on Tuesday for almost the entire month. I hope to continue working out while there; so that I am at least slightly fit to kick off the 2010 training season !

Choosing a Training Plan &/or Organization

I obviously need motivation and discipline to get this right. There are many Triathlon sites out there - I have been checking out a few (see below links) I also plan on going to the Team in Training Information session tomorrow.

Why O Why ???

I plan on writing a diary about my tri training so here goes. Maybe I will post this somewhere once I am done or maybe not; but its for me more than anything so i can track my accomplishments and failures and my ups and downs through the next 7 or so months.

On Halloween 2009 I signed up for the New York Nautica Triathlon which will be held on July 18th 2010. Not sure what I was thinking or why exactly I am doing this.

I think I am doing it is because I really enjoyed training for my Danskin Sprint Tri which took place in Sept. Running in the park, biking through the Palisades, swimming in the sea at Brighton Beach. I loved being able to train outdoors. It was so much more fun than going to the gym. Also, I hope that post NY Tri I will be in the best shape ever coz this is not something you can train for a month or 2. This is serious shit. So the plan is to start with full gusto once i get back from India in January till then I want to do regular work-outs of running - biking -swimming. I love to swim but my biggest fear is running. I am going to sign up for some duathlons and sprint tri's before the Big Race. That is the plan lets see how it goes. Wish me Luck :).
