Days left till NYC Triathlon: 26
Activity: Swim Group Training Session
I was so tired this evening, I had an intense day at work and my leg muscles were still recovering from Sundays long run. It took all my energy and willpower to pack my bag and head towards Brooklyn for my Swim GTS. It wasn't the thought of swimming that tired me, It was the thought of putting on my wetsuit that made me feel like skipping the session. Yes, the wet suit is a daunting piece of clothing that takes a minimum of ten minutes to put on. Today we were doing the one mile swim; this essentially meant doing 5 out and back snake swims in the pool. After the 4th out and back we got out of the pool removed our wetsuits and jumped back in for the last one. When you remove your wet suit you realize how warm and buoyant it keeps you. I welcomed the cool touch of the water for the last drill. I wasn't particularly tired post the long swim, I am hoping this means that on race day I will be fine. I also made it a point to barely kick in order to conserve my legs for the bike and run, it is important to be conscious of your legs as the natural thing to do is kick. It took me 33 minutes to swim one mile, hoping the Hudson current helps me go faster on race day.
