Running on a Hot Summer Day

Days left till NYC Triathlon: 44

Activity: Running in Central Park

Summer has arrived, it was ninety degrees fahrenheit this evening and I am not used to running in heat as yet. After work I made my way towards Central Park to get some miles in. I ran 5 miles today but it felt more like ten miles because of the heat. I had the toughest time at mile 3, but just had to push through and psych myself to keep going. Half the battle while training for an endurance race is being able to push through when you feel you can't, once you master that then you can climb any hill or go any distance. The only way to know you can get through it is by putting yourself in situations that will make you to run, bike or swim (in the case of tri training) further, faster and longer. Today was intense but well worth it.
